Vangu provides drop-in compatibility across OpenAI, Anthropic, and Codex protocols. Connect Claude Code CLI, Aider, Cursor or your custom pipelines in one line.
SECTION 01 / 08GETTING STARTED
01 / Quickstart
Getting started with Vangu requires only an API key and your developer tool of choice. Use `/v1` as the base URL for OpenAI tools and Codex CLI, and `/anthropic` for Anthropic tools. Codex CLI sends requests to `/v1/responses`.
1. Select Your Plan
Compare daily plans, token-based pay-as-you-go access and unlimited text options. Daily allowances reset at 00:00 UTC+3; other terms depend on the selected product.
2. Provision Your API Key
Generate your developer key in the format `vgu_live_...` from your dashboard.
3. Configure Protocol Base URL
Set the base URL to `https://api.vangu.dev/v1` for OpenAI and Codex CLI, or `https://api.vangu.dev/anthropic` for Anthropic tools.

SECTION 03 / 08CLAUDE CLI
03 / Claude Code CLI Setup & Automation
The official terminal coding assistant <code>claude</code> (Claude Code CLI) can be configured with Vangu’s Anthropic endpoint. The scripts install dependencies and verify key/model access.
Mac / Terminal
One-Liner Auto Setup
Installs Claude Code CLI and registers environment variables in your shell profile.
If you prefer manual configuration in your terminal, run the following commands:
BASH / TERMINAL
# 1. Claude Code CLI'ı global olarak kurun
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
# 2. Vangu Anthropic uç noktasını ve anahtarınızı tanımlayın
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL="https://api.vangu.dev/anthropic"
export ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN="vgu_live_sample_token_67b8a901"
export ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=""
export ANTHROPIC_MODEL="gpt-5.6-sol"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL="$ANTHROPIC_MODEL"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL="$ANTHROPIC_MODEL"
export ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL="$ANTHROPIC_MODEL"
# 3. Claude Code'u başlatın

SECTION 04 / 08CODEX CLI
04 / GPT & Codex CLI Setup & Automation
Configure Vangu OpenAI and Codex endpoints for coding assistants like Aider, Cursor, Codex CLI, and OpenAI terminal tools in a single command.
VANGU SETUP / 1.0.1
One-step desktop setup
Updated release
Enter your API key, select a model and click Install and switch to Vangu. The app installs Codex CLI, backs up current settings, repairs existing conversation connections to Vangu, tests the connection and restarts your selected installed Codex/ChatGPT apps. Enter a fresh key for each setup; a previous key is never filled in automatically.
Extract the archive and run Start-Vangu-Setup.sh. Linux desktop requires GTK/NSS/GBM libraries. Windows and macOS packages bundle the GUI runtime.
The key needs OpenAI access permission. The app does not change ChatGPT’s chat provider; Vangu configuration applies to Codex. This release has no macOS Developer ID/notarization or Windows publisher signature.
Real CLI and existing/new conversation tests passed on macOS; the installation engine was tested on Linux. Windows installation and restart adapters passed automated tests; the final Windows desktop check must be performed on the user’s device.
Mac / Terminal
Codex & OpenAI Terminal Setup
Installs Codex CLI in your user directory, configures the Vangu provider and verifies key/model access.
Setup asks for your API key on every run; it never automatically reuses a saved key or reads the clipboard. On Windows, after verifying the connection, it safely closes and reopens running Codex/ChatGPT desktop apps. Apps that cannot close due to unsaved work are never forcibly terminated.
Existing Codex conversations using OpenAI, Netiva or OceanAPI are migrated to Vangu; conversation text is preserved and original files are backed up. This configures Codex; it does not replace the provider used by the standalone ChatGPT app.
Remove Vangu and Return to Your ChatGPT Subscription
On Windows, close Codex and any Codex CLI sessions. Open PowerShell and paste this single command; no manual download or folder navigation is needed.
The command removes the Vangu connection, keys and Vangu RTK settings while preserving conversations and personal Codex settings. Complete the sign-in using your own ChatGPT subscription account, then reopen old terminal and Codex windows.
In your user-level ~/.codex/config.toml, set the Vangu provider base_url to https://api.vangu.dev/v1 and wire_api to responses. Enable OpenAI access on your API key. Setting CODEX_API_BASE alone does not replace an incorrect URL already saved in config.toml.
Do not put the API key in env_key; this field is the name of an environment variable. Keep the VANGU_API_KEY name in the example. For Windows desktop, use the automatic setup command above to avoid relying on inherited terminal variables.
Do not use /codex/v1 for Codex CLI. /codex/v1/completions is a separate legacy completion API using prompt; it is not the Responses-based Codex CLI endpoint.

SECTION 05 / 08ALL-IN-ONE
05 / Universal Developer Environment Setup
To configure all three protocols (OpenAI + Anthropic / Claude Code + Codex) simultaneously in one step, use our universal setup tool:
Mac / Terminal
Universal Terminal Configuration
Saves environment variables and Codex/Claude configuration; does not install CLI packages.
Setup prompts for a hidden API key, validates model access and backs up changed files. Node.js 22+ is required; missing runtimes are installed as Node.js LTS in your user directory. Open a new terminal. Use --offline / -Offline for offline configuration and --configure-only / -ConfigureOnly for settings only; these options do not confirm a working CLI installation. Downloaded scripts also fetch a shared installer verified with SHA-256.
Automatic tool output optimization
Vangu API automatically compresses long test and log results before sending them to the provider. No additional app, RTK installation or hook setup is required. Task instructions, tool identifiers and command arguments are preserved; error lines and relevant result sections remain available.
Compression varies with tool output. Small results, current task text and unrecognized source code are preserved. Relevant sections of very long historical results can be retrieved again with a narrowly scoped tool call.
